Get to Know Our Intern: Micah Turner
Micah is completing their music therapy internship at Dynamic Lynks from August 2022 - April 2023. Get to know Micah a little better and see what brought them to Dynamic Lynks!
Q: Where are you going to college for your music therapy degree?
I go to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
Q: What is your main instrument and what are your other favorite instruments to play?
My main instrument is Clarinet, but I love playing the Euphonium and Guitar.
Q: Where are you from?
I’m from Long Beach, California, but I live in Cypress, Texas.
Q: Why do you want to be a music therapist?
I want to be a music therapist because I really love helping people.
Q: What skills are you looking forward to learning about and working on in Music Therapy sessions? I’m looking forward to becoming more confident in myself as a person and as a music therapist. I’m also looking forward to learning how to handle larger groups of clients than I’m used to and learning how to really bring out my own personality in a session.
Q: What are your interests outside of music therapy?
I really enjoy playing video games when I’m not doing school work. I also like hiking and being outdoors, playing with my cat Jet, spending time with my family, and teaching my little cousins how to play Mario Kart and Super Mario 3-D World.
Q: What do you want the Dynamic Lynks family to know about you?
I love kids and animals a lot. I have a small sword collection at home in Texas, as well as a shoebox full of rocks that I’ve collected over the years because I really like rocks! I wanted to be a Geologist as a kid and I changed my mind once I realized how much math was involved and how much I don’t like doing math. I also marched a season of DCI (Drum Corps International) in 2014 with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps and I played Baritone (which I almost fully taught myself).
We wish Micah the best of luck in their internship!
