Get to Know Our New Interns: Corinne and Mia

We are thrilled to introduce you to our new interns, Corinne and Mia who will be joining us through April 2025 to complete their clinical internships in Music Therapy at Dynamic Lynks!

We asked Corinne and Mia some of our favorite questions to help our community get to know them! Let's see what they had to say...

Q: Where are you going to college for your music therapy degree?

Corinne: I am going to Shenandoah University

Mia: Berklee College of Music in Boston!

Q: What is your primary instrument and what are your other favorite instruments to play?

Corinne: My main instrument is my voice, which also happens to be my favorite to ‘play’, but a close second would be guitar!

Mia: My primary instrument is voice, but I love to use the acoustic guitar and play the congas!

Q: Where are you from?

Corinne: I am from Louisville Kentucky

Mia: I am from Los Angeles, CA

Q: Why do you want to be a music therapist?

Corinne: I want to be a music therapist because this field fosters growth, creativity, and autonomy, views clients as whole beings, and places a strong emphasis on therapeutic relationships. Music has been a big and magical part of my life and is a powerful tool for healing and growth. This inspires me to pursue a profession where I get to harness the power of music in order to help others! Additionally, the continuous opportunities for learning and personal development excite me, as they will allow me to better serve and support the people I work with.

Mia: I want to be a music therapist because I feel like music is a wonderful and powerful way to connect and grow with others. Its ability to transcend so many of the barriers that divide us allows us to show up as our most authentic selves, and I think that’s beautiful.

Q: What skills are you looking forward to learning about and working on in Music Therapy sessions?

Corinne: I am very eager to learn more about improvisation, holistic approaches, goal writing for groups, and the ins and outs of being a school-based music therapist!

Mia: I’m really looking forward to growing my improvisational and songwriting skills! Honing in on how clients interact with music and allowing the session to reflect on their journey is something I want to explore. I also am very excited just to have a repertoire I can rely on!

Q: What are your interests outside of music therapy?

Corinne: I enjoy movies, singing and songwriting, crafting, watercolor painting, and trying new foods/restaurants!

Mia: Outside of music therapy, I love to songwrite. I also love to read and try and make art as a form of self-care. I used to play a lot of soccer, so I’m hoping to join a league of some sort if I have the time (and energy!) I also love to do tarot and I’m working on giving readings for fun!

Q: What do you want the Dynamic Lynks family to know about you?

Corinne: I am super excited to be starting my internship here, and cannot wait for all of the learning, and growth I’m about to embark on!

Mia: I would love for the Dynamic Lynks family to know just how excited I am to be a part of this community! Fun facts about me are that I’m a fraternal twin, I love a cappella music and I live with a roommate who has two cats (and even though I’m allergic, I love them.)

As you see Corinne and Mia around the center, in schools, or on our social media pages, take a moment to send them some love and encouragement on their final step of becoming a music therapist!

We are thrilled to be educating and supporting the next generation of music therapists.
