Welcome Our New Student: Emily!

We are so happy to welcome Emily to the Dynamic Lynks community! Emily will be working with us as a practicum student for her fall semester. We are passionate about clinical training at Dyanmic Lynks to help fill our field with awesome future music therapists.

To help everyone get to know Emily, we did a little Q&A with her. Read below to learn some more about Emily!

Q: Where are you going to college for your music therapy degree?

I am going to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana. I’m part of their distance program!

Q: What is your main instrument and what are your other favorite instruments to play?

My main instrument is my voice! I also love to play the guitar and percussion instruments like the djembe.

Q: Where are you from?

I am from Aurora, IL, but currently live in Dekalb, IL.

Q: Why do you want to be a music therapist?

I want to be a music therapist because I have a passion for helping others and a passion for making music. I love helping others find their potential and their strengths while playing music, being creative, dancing, and being goofy!

Q: What skills are you looking forward to learning about and working on in Music Therapy sessions?

I am looking forward to strengthening my guitar skills this practicum. I am also looking forward to seeing how the staff at Dynamic Lynks incorporates movement into the music therapy sessions because, as a lover of yoga and a dancer, this makes my heart very happy! I am looking forward to working with many different clientele and having group session experience too.

Q: What are your interests outside of music therapy?

Outside of music therapy I love to be on four wheels! I love roller skating and skateboarding. I love to cross-stitch, knit, and do paint-by-number kits in my free time. I also really love to fix things! Anything that can get my hands and mind moving makes me happy.

Q: What do you want the Dynamic Lynks family to know about you?

I want the Dynamic Lynks family to know that I am a very hard worker and that I am very passionate. I am a lover and have a positive outlook on everything. I love to laugh and be goofy and I’m not afraid to try new things. I am excited about life and this new experience, and I cannot wait to meet you all and to meet your clients!
