Q: Where did you grow up, and what brought you to the Chicago area?
A: I grew up in Wheaton, IL, which is a suburb of Chicago. I’ve lived in the Chicago area for almost my entire life, and I love it here! I couldn’t really imagine moving anywhere else.
Q: Where did you go to college for your music therapy degree?
A: I got my Bachelor’s Degree at Illinois State University in Normal.
Q: What individuals and groups do you have experience working with?
A: I have experience working with a wide range of people, ranging from pre-k to geriatric. During my internship at Dynamic Lynks, I worked with neurodivergent individuals of varying diagnoses: autism, ADHD, behavioral/emotional disorders, and other intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Q: What are your favorite instruments to use in Music Therapy sessions?
A: I love to use unique, novel instruments like the ocean drum and the hapi drum.
Q: What are your favorite skills to work on in Music Therapy sessions?
A: I adore seeing clients grow in their social and communication skills. It’s such a joy to watch the exchanges between our clients! I also enjoy helping clients learn how to self-regulate and find ways to help their bodies feel comfortable to them.
Q: If you weren’t a music therapist, what would you be?
A: When I was little, I always wanted to be a storm chaser!
Q: What do you want the Dynamic Lynks family to know about you?
A: I’m thrilled to begin working with our clients and working with the Dynamic Lynks team! I know I will continue to grow so much as a music therapist through the amazing people here.
Q: What does celebrating neurodiversity mean to you?
A: Neurodiversity is the celebration of differences between individuals. There is no singular “correct” way a person should perceive the world around them. The goals of music therapy should not be to erase the differences that are born of neurodiversity, but to embrace the differences and help clients navigate the world around them!
Q: What are you most excited about joining the Dynamic Lynks team?
A: I’m most excited to see our clients grow and thrive in the world around them!
